Dawn Raids

LI:To create something that shows  what you know  about  this part of of  pacific history in Aotearoa.

For this I SEE Me activity  I wrote about the polynesian panthers and how they came to be. The dawn raids were a crackdown in New Zealand from the mid-1970 to the easrly 1980s on illegal overstayers. But the thing about it was that they did'nt do to other people what jest the polynesians. They would do there dawn raids at night or early in the morning looking for overstayers. If you want more infomation read my DLO. This activity was fun to get to know our history and to know how our grandperents fought for our rights.

Our Ocean

LI:To create a DLO to advertise the pasific.

For our I SEE ME challenge we did our ocean. In this challenge i worked with Spleman, Carte.
We then wrote what does it mean to be a child of this ocean ? To me it means a healthy ocean and a good enriroment for our fish and for us as people to enjoy. I found this activity relly and because i got to work with my friends

Mindfullness reaflextion

 What is mindfulness?

Mindfulness is a meditation that calms our body and our mind using a mindfulness bell. It also allows us to focus on now, and leave the past and not worry about the future. There are two zones of mindfulness which are red and green. The red zone is when you are angry, frustrated, distracted, anxious, etc. The green zone is when you are calm, clear, peaceful, engaged, etc. This also lets us remove our negativity from our minds, and control our thoughts and emotions. To have a mindful mind you will need to have your legs crossed, hands on knees, close your eyes then breath in and then breath out while your back is straight.

After doing this mindfulness session I felt more calm, and had a clear mind.

Add decimals

  L.I how to add decimals.

For this DLO , Afa and I worked collabortivtley , shared our opinions , to understand the stagatey we are working on, For our groups we were understanding the stragtey we learnt for the past few days.

I really enjoyed learning this activty as I learnt how to use decimals also knowing how to use it. We also worked collabortivtly to understand where we start from and how we can get the answer. We first watched videos to understand what we first needed to do , to try and get the correct answer to the right question.

Flow Charts and Radio Chat

 Learning Intentions

To understand how flowcharts relate to coding blocks.

To understand how to get the microbit to talk to another microbit using radio signals.

Here is my flowchart practice document.

Link to DLO

The next activity today was coding the microbit to send a radio signal to another microbit. We had to make sure that both microbits were on the same group number so we didn't accidentally get a message from another group.

Then Vs Now Olympic

L.I : To compare then and now with the Olympics Places.

The DLO showing above is about the amount of money that was spent to build and help with the olympics. My reading group wrote some No and yes ideas as example yes they should spent this money to make their families proud , also with No because people could use the money with vaccines. We also found some photos of them and now happening every four years.

Coding in python

LI:To learn to code the microbot in python

This first one shows the Python coding for a flashing heart. It flashes between a small heart icon and a large heart icon. The main thing to notice between the Python coding and the blocks is that the forever loop is at the top and bottom of the content in both.

For this example for coding the buttons, the main thing to notice is the "def" which is defining what the on_button_pressed will make the microbit do. Again this has a top and bottom so the content has to go inside it.

Reaserching maps

L.I To use our smart searching skills to expand our knowledge of Ancient Greek Mythology.

Today David shared the next reading challenge with us. It is all about the Greek gods and helps us to practise the skills we have been learning in our reading lessons with our teachers.

David created this task as part of his CARE award challenges. In this smart searching activity, we used our comprehension and research skills to learn about Greek Mythology vocabulary and identify Greek places on the map.

I found this activity interesting because i've learnt more about the places and details of greece history.

Aciont history

L.I to organize and research, words that connect to ancient greek.

This week, David as been teaching and expanding our knowledge about greek mythology. Greek Mythology is a large collection of stories, started in Ancient Greece, about the beginning of the world, and the lives and adventures of gods, goddesses, heroes, and heroines.

In this activity David has explained that we were acquired to organize these words, into the categories: People, Places, Government, War and Culture. The list of words can be seen on slide three, as well as the organization. We all collaborated together to get this done.

I really enjoyed this activity because it has taught me so much new words. I also enjoyed learning and growing my knowledge on greek mythology.

Vision board

This is my vision board this is what my goals are and what i want to achieve this year .one of my goals are for me to improve in my maths . I also want to be a better rugby player I found this activity  really fun to create.

Kidness

LI: To write a abstract noun senses poem

This week for writing we wrote abstract noun poems in pairs. An abstract noun is something that exists but cannot be touched. Our abstract noun poem was about happiness. An abstract noun includes the 5 senses (Touch/ feel, taste, hear, see and smell), punctuation ( Capital letters, .), complex sentences, metaphors and similes After we finished writing our poems we used the DRAFT (Delete, Rearrange, Add, Fix, Talk)  process to check our poem, with draft we can make correct errors in our writing

Rock Paper Sizzors

LI:To learn how to code microbots to play rock paper sizzors and understond how to use a flow chart.

Link To DLO

  1. When I shake the microbit, it will choose a random number between 1 and 3
  2. I have to make a variable called hand and set this to the random number
  3. If the number is 1 - the microbit will show the symbol for paper
  4. If the number is 2 - the microbit will show the symbol for rock
  5. If the number is 3 - the microbit will show the symbol for scissors

Success Poem

LI: To write a abstract noun senses poem

Our task was to create a poem using metaphors and abstract nouns.

A metaphor is a comparison of two things, saying one thing is the other without using ‘like’ or ‘as’.

Abstract nouns are things the we can see but we can't physically touch it.

The 5 senses are sight, hearing, taste, smell and feel.

First, we chose a word from the list, our group picked success. After picking the word,we looked for the structure in the example given to us. Then, we created a poem with the structure. After writing the poem, we created a DLO about the poem.

The word that our group chose was Success.

We really enjoyed this activity, because it taught us how to create metaphors and poems, using abstract nouns.

ML Forming an Opinion

 LI: consider both perspectives.

Today for inquiry my group and I read information about Kuirau Park, Rotorua, New Zealand we then looked if the information was true or false if the event took place or not by looking at one place in New Zealand.

Something I found interesting was that some of the information written was real but at the end it was not true.

Main Idea

LI: To identify the main ideas in a text

This week for inquiry we retold how Maui slowed down the sun using main ideas.

First, we watch a video of how maui slowed down the sun. After that, we wrote multiple ideas about the important ideas in the story. Next we wrote 4 very important ideas from the important ideas. Lastly, we wrote 3 vital ideas.

Something I found interesting was that the most important ideas

Venn Diagram

LI:Find as many similarities and differences as you can between the video and the text of “The Beginning”.

For inquiry my group read the beginning of how the Rangi and Papa got seperated. We then made a venn diagram about what the differences or the video version and the written versions. Then we looked if we could find any similarities about the book and the video. Lastly we wrote what we prefered between the video and the written version  of the story. I prefered the ...

Something I found interesting was  how many similarities we could find between the video version and the written version

Summary

LI: To explain in fewer words what the text is about.

Today for inquiry my group has done a summary about retelling the story about how Rangi and Papa got seperated.

Storytelling is a huge part of the culture and history of Aotearoa. This taonga from our ancestors is the heartbeat that will keep our whakapapa alive for those who are still to walk in their footsteps.

In this task we picked out 20 important words from the sand art that we watched some are Maori, parents, free, darkness, etc. Then we picked out 6 most important words to sum up the video that e watch into fewer sentences.

Something I found interesting was how the man could draw a lot of information with sand.
