Decorating The Tree
L.I: To decorate the tree in the office with our handmade decorations.
This Term LS2 was working on our sewing. We got to pick our holiday decoration and I chose a Hanukkah stocking and my other one was a Tongan palm tree . We chose to hang them on the Christmas tree. Today most of the LS2 students have finished their sewing so we went to hang them on the tree we first went to the office where the tree was then when we got there we were talking with Mr Jonhstion (our client) about our holiday decorations and how they look and that if we had any thing we would do differently next time. Then we stood up one by one to hang our holiday decoration on the tree. This was fun and cool looking and we put our holiday decorations on the christmas tree.

Illustrated Story
LI: To write a pourquoi (tell me why or how) story that paints a picture in the mind of the reader.
Our challenge this week was to create a porquoi story that we would illustrate and share with our junior classes. A porquoi story tells us why something is the way it is. Our story tells why/how… This morning we shared our stories with Room 2 and Room 4, and they loved listening to them. I enjoyed doing this story because I got to work collaboratively with my friends and were very creative with our animated story.
Design Technology Challenge
LI:To design and make a holiday decoration that fits the client brief.
This week, The LS2 students designed and created Holiday Decorations to hang on the christmas tree. We started off by asking questions to our client Mr Johnston then we created a DLO(Brainstorm, mood board) with the information that Mr jontsthon gave us we did this DLO to understand what we are going to make and to see how many materials that we are going to use . The materials LS2 used were felt, thread, cotton, needles and many more but before we started on creating our designs we practiced how to do blanket stitching and running stitch so that we can get the hang of sewing. Some of the holidays people chose were Hanukkah, Dewali, Christmas and more. My decoration that I made was a palm tree with a Tongan flag sewed onto it and my second one was a Hanukkah socking. I’ve been working hard on these decorations and so had the rest of LS2. I really enjoyed this activity because I learnt how to do new things and even though I had some accidents with the needle I still had fun making my decorations. something i would think on working on with sowing is to i need to stop stabbing myself with the needle.

This picture is called the siesta by Paul Gauguin.
This morning we tried one of this year’s Kick Start Summer Learning Journey activities. The purpose of this task was to experiment with colors by mixing colors from the original palette with pop colors. This allowed us to recolors famous painting or images of landmarks around the world. This was a fun and cool activity i like how we got to choose what ever colors we wanted to use on the picture as you can see the picture that is on the left is the original picture and on the right is the picture maid.

Te Whanau Raukura Performance
Today we were visited by the Te Whanau Raukura. The Te Whanau Raukura is a kapa haka group they performed for us and told us that they had a taiaha, poi and a te rakau and they used them to explain the meaning behind elements of the Maori culture. After that they split up and came to a class each and in there classes they were playing a game with us the the teacher that was in our class was Mrs Bekah
she told us how to play this game could pukana. How you play this game is you get in a round circle and if one person says pukana to you you say it back to them or to the next person next to you if the person that says pukana to you and his or her hand is not facing you you do not say pukana back to her or he. It was a wonderful and nice performance.

Provocation: Should masks be compulsory on NZ public transport?
LI: To identify and consider the two perspectives of this provocation to help me form an opinion.
Today we made a provocation DLO. A provocation is an action or speech that triggers strong feelings about a topic. Today we considered both sides of the provocation which is the YES and the NO our provocation was Should masks be compulsory on NZ public transport?’ We then used that information to help us form an opinion that we were all happy with our decision. Our opinion was a Yes and No because there are some reasons for why we need to wear a mask and there are some reasons why we shouldn’t wear one. Both Yes and No reasons are equally important. We need to stay safe and away from the Covid 19 and other diseases.

Math Challenge
LI:To learn about math and weight
This week we were put into groups for math In these groups we made up names that represent math or includes math names , our name that we chose for our group was The multiplying 7’s because we had seven people in our group and we were supposed to multiply our questions we were given . In the multiplying 7’s were Victoria our leader Giovanni,Makaili,Lily,Karlos , Ong and me , we put all of our opinions together to come with different solutions to solve our challenges and we would have to ask questions if we didn't understand the question or ask for help because no one should have sat in silence because we are a team and we are all supposed participate so we all can have friendship even though we haven't worked together but we did make a big difference and we worked as a good team whether we liked working together or not this activity was a good challenge for not only me but also my group .

Learning and understanding fractions
L.I: To learn how to group and split in fractions.
This week is our last session with Mr Fisi’iahi for this term as it was last week. For this week my group and I worked on fractions and played a game called Play tower of hanoi. We also used Multi Link cubes to help us understand fractions and to help us solve the questions. I really enjoyed playing with my partner solving fraction questions. We also played a game called Dicy numbers which got us into parnters. This game was really fun and competitive as we had to see who was the first one to win. Understanding fractions helps us understand the groups, twice and the double. Double means twice as example 6+6=2 or 6 x 2=12.
Why is it important to make wise choices?
LI:To structure and write an explanation.
Why is it important to make wise choices?
Did you know there are 8 million tons of plastic that end up in our ocean every year?
Because of this millions of sea animals die every year. How would you feel if there was a plastic net tied around your neck and stopping you from breathing, how would you feel if a plastic straw is stuck up your nose, how would you feel if you were swimming in plastic.. How would you feel if you were eating plastic. Do you like fish and chips if you do then there might not be any more fish because they're dying from the plastic and if you want to save them and many more sea animals jest by throwing your our someone's rubbish in the bin and remember if you throw one rabbis in the bin you are saving one sea animal.
Blub:
we had to write a paragraph that had to do with plastic pollution did u know that we dropped less plastic than last year .did u know last year we dropped 5 trillion pieces of plastic and this year we dropped 5.25 trillion macro and micro pieces of plastic in our ocean.

LI:To solve and create Algebraic equation
Today my group and I learnt Algebra with Mr Fisi’iahi. We started off by finding out the values of the animals. The animals we did were Piwaiwaka,Gecko,Kiwi,Tuatara and Pukeko. We summed up an answer then we simplified the answers to make it easier to understand and explain what's happening. We created a DLO with our algebraic equations that we had to create for Mr Fisi'iahi. I really enjoyed working with my partner and my group to answer the questions we’re trying to solve. These tasks and questions help us understand and explain what Algebra is. We also learned how to balance the animals to make it equal and even. I learned how to add and subtract on Algebra.

Science: Summarizing the text | Reading
This week for reading our focus is science. For this second activity my group and I skimmed and scanned our notes and shared ideas to create a collaborative summary explaining ‘what is science?’. We divided our lengthy summary into 3 following paragraphs: an introduction on science, the 4 main categories of science and the two types of science. We used a question dice that helped us with our learning and made us ask questions to help us think about our subject and provide ideas for our summary.
Science
- Science is divided into 3 branches, Physics, Biology, and Chemistry.
- Basic science is knowing something and applied science is using what we know.
- Science is the knowledge behind every question.
